Is your Work From Home set up supporting your wellbeing?

EDGE

It seems WFH really could be here to stay for many of us.

This article published by Fast Company claims ‘the office as we know it is over - and that’s a good thing’. 2021 will apparently be the year we finally get to enjoy the true benefits of the remote work revolution.

For now, we will continue to spend the vast majority of our day-to-day time indoors, and with that we know that buildings have a unique ability to positively or negatively influence our health. Focusing on the positive, the materials that surround us on a daily basis can provide real psychological and physiological benefits.

When our surroundings are based on biophilic design principles, which rest on sustainable materials such as FSC wood that avoid unnecessary impact on the environment, studies have shown improvements to a person’s emotional state and level of self-expression, reduced blood pressure, heart rate and levels of stress. As well as these health benefits, surrounding ourselves with timber is understood to also improve our attention and focus, increase our creativity, and reduce our perception of pain.

Investing in and surrounding ourselves with timber furnishings like those handcrafted below by Tim Evershed can support our WFH lives and help create a healthier built and home environment. Bringing the outdoors in really does naturally benefit our wellbeing.

Which begs the question, is your WFH set up supporting yours?
